ROTOZIP® adds Diamond XBIT to Product Line

| 01 August, 2007

Three-carat diamond bit ideal for hard tile hole cut-outs

Mt. Prospect, Ill. – ROTOZIP® enhances its current tile system with its revolutionary diamond floor tile XBIT. At 1/4-inch in cutting diameter, the newest addition to the ROTOZIP XBITS™ line contains nearly three carats of diamond grit — cutting through hard tiles such as porcelain and granite up to 1/2-inch thick with ease and efficiency.

Perfect for making hole cut-outs in a variety of shapes and sizes, ROTOZIP’s diamond floor tile XBIT demonstrates unrivaled durability and versatility. It is capable of making more than 45 plunges and cutting 13 linear feet of porcelain tile (equivalent to cutting 30 one-inch diameter holes) and eliminates the need for tile installers to use multiple small cut tools such as nibblers and keyhole saws.

"Research indicates that 83 percent of tile installers find cutting porcelain and making small curved cuts extremely difficult," said Tim Baker, project manager – ROTOZIP. "The diamond floor tile XBIT enables tile installers to tackle even the toughest cuts with ease, making the ROTOZIP Spiral Saw® system a must-have for anyone working with hard tile."

Like all precision-cut jobs, best results stem from proper tool and bit usage. To maintain bit longevity and ensure quality cuts, users are encouraged to apply the following heat-dispersal technique when using the ROTOZIP diamond floor tile XBIT:

1. Starting a Pilot Hole: Create a pivot point in the tile while holding the tool at a 15 to 45 degree angle from the vertical. Rotate the tool around the pivot point, allowing the weight of the tool to apply pressure on the tile. (Pushing down on or applying constant pressure on the bit is unnecessary and should be avoided.) Continue the circular, conical motion until the bit plunges completely through the tile.

2. Making the Cut: When the pilot hole is completed, begin cutting out the desired shape while moving the tool in a slow, up and down motion. This will increase the speed of cut and prevent the bit from burning out.

3. Minimizing Dust: To minimize dust, use the dust extractor attachment (RZVAC1).

The new ROTOZIP diamond floor tile XBIT is now available in major home centers nationwide.
